Co-Founder Beepr | Freelance Sr. Product Owner / Project Manager
As a Project Manager and Product Owner with over a decade of experience in product development, I’ve led complex projects in highly demanding environments. My approach is goal-oriented, and I thrive on collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet strict privacy and security requirements while managing high levels of user traffic.
I believe that simplicity is the cornerstone of effective products. The subtle limitation, the subtraction of everything that does not essentially contribute. In every project I lead, I aim to subtract the non-essential, leaving only what truly matters. By focusing on what is most important, I make the experience straightforward and effective for both users and teams.
It’s easy to make something difficult, but true mastery lies in designing with clarity and purpose. That is why I strive for simplicity in what we design, what we build and how we work (together).
As Co-Founder, we created Beepr to make setting up alerts effortless and intuitive for users at all levels, focusing on small and mid-sized companies just like us.
While many businesses chase Fortune 500 clients, we’re more interested in serving the Fortune 5,000,000 — the underserved and often overlooked companies that deserve better tools.
For Beepr, we built a subscription-based website, a CMS for configuring alerting and monitoring, and a native mobile app to receive real-time notifications in case of important issues or outages.
GGD-GHOR and the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport required a new system to collect comprehensive data on COVID-19 patients to develop effective policies for managing the pandemic, following a serious data breach.
During this project, I was responsible for leading the backend teams and managing the data connections between systems from RIVM, GGD-GHOR, and VWS.
The Directorate of Legislation and Legal Affairs (WJZ) manages most disclosures, with dedicated teams set up for COVID-19-related Woo requests. The work processes were complex and lacked support from standard software solutions.
As Project Lead, I was responsible for developing detailed project plans, including milestones, budgets, deadlines, and risk management strategies, as well as implementing measures to mitigate risks. I also managed all communication with stakeholders. My key objective was to lead the development of a new case management system to streamline processes and enhance overall support.
In collaboration with Landscape, we developed an AI-driven solution to help researchers reduce lead times and enhance the quality of systematic reviews.
A systematic review gathers and interprets data from published studies on a specific topic, then analyzes, critically appraises, and synthesizes the findings into a refined, evidence-based conclusion.
My key responsibilities in this project included gathering requirements and translating them into a comprehensive design. I also prioritized tasks and converted user requirements into clear, actionable user stories.
As Project Lead, I was responsible for overseeing the development of a Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) portal, ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations.
This portal provided a centralized system for organizations to document, manage, and track their data processing activities.
In addition to creating a detailed project plan and coordinating with development teams, I managed the project budget and was responsible for hiring key personnel to ensure successful execution. I also worked closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize features, and deliver a user-friendly portal that streamlined the process of maintaining accurate records of data processing activities.
In collaboration with Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam, I was responsible to led the implementation of Data Donations on the NEXT platform.
This service allows users to set up online data donation studies, enabling respondents to share their digital trace data in a privacy-preserving way. The workflow can be easily published on the NEXT platform or used in a separate self hosted environment.
As Senior Product Owner, I led the mobile app strategy at NU.nl, responsible for defining and executing a comprehensive plan to boost user engagement, enhance the overall user experience, and expand the platform’s mobile reach. My role involved analyzing user behavior, identifying growth opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement new features. I also oversaw the integration of push notifications, personalization, and real-time updates, making the mobile app a key tool for delivering timely news to millions of users.
As Product Owner, I was responsible for the redesign of the largest news platform in the Netherlands. This was an exciting and challenging project, as it involved updating a design that had been in place for 20 years.
